Everybody's talking all this stuff about me
Why don't they just let me live? (Tell me why)
I don't need permission
Make my own decisions (oh)
That's my prerogative (it's my prerogative)
It's my prerogative
It's the way that I wanna live (it's my prerogative)
But you can't tell me what to do
I realize that the element of surprise is embedded in life, but it somehow always manages to catch me offguard when something surprising happens. (Does that even make sense?) In all my years, I've seen some pretty awful things happen to very good people. I've seen and experienced backstabbing by those I trusted with my most guarded secrets. I've also witnessed friends bad-mouthing those "they loved most." I've seen friendships break. I've initiated these break-ups before. And yet, when I hear of wrong behavior on behalf of a "good friend," I am still shocked. I am still appalled that someone could have the audacity to pretend as though he or she were a friend when this person has done nothing but break every pillar of what a good friend should be/do. I'm surprised at how low some can stoop for personal gain. I've never believed until now that some people don't have the least bit capcity of charity or humility in them. Let's be honest; we're all guilty of being selfish from time to time. However, there is a fine line between indulging in one's needs and indulging these needs at another friend's expense. Hurtful commentary, snide remarks, and self-satisfying behavior at the cost of a friendship are despicable. There is no redemption from being a bad friend. It's simply bad karma. I truly believe that if you screw over enough people in your life, life will screw you back in the most unimaginable way(s). With that said, however, I don't know if I can honestly hope for bad things to happen to the above-mentioned kind of people. Perhaps I'm too "nice." Perhaps, I'm worried for my own karma. I'm not quite sure.
However, I do realize that being too nice is what got me into this mess in the first place. How does one remedy that, then?
New turn-offs:
1. People who can't seem to talk about anything that doesn't include themselves.
2. People who drink copious amounts in order to drown away their troubles.
3. People who are constantly complaining about things they can change.
4. People who gain pleasure by making others feel poorly.
5. People who are ACTUALLY racist.
6. Really, truly selfish people who only think of personal gain and money.
All I have to say is, karma is a beast.
Social climbers are off the list. Take them off your buddy list and out of your life. Stat.
That's all.
We are so over, we need a new word for "over."
Yes, I'm talking to you. Bitchass motherfucker.
What's the most klutzy thing you've ever done?

- Fall off a bar in front of a hundred people while dirty dancing with two friends in a foreign country. I had a bruise the size of a grapefruit on the back of my thigh for a month thereafter.
- Fall off a ledge at the Saybrook dining hall during a party. I bounced off the ledge, onto the DJ table, and then to the floor. I got right back up and kept partying until I was dragged off the dancefloor by my friend who immediately said, "LET'S GO. NOW."
- Run into a stack of a cement slabs at a construction site in Shanghai. I bled a little bit, but I kept running.
Damn, I struggle.
